Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend: August 6-7

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Jennie Edmundson Foundation have teamed up once again for the annual Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend. The event is a benefit for the Spirit of Courage Charitable Patient Care Fund to assist patients of Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center.

Since its inception in 2003, Spirit of Courage has raised more than $1.3 million to help patients cover costs associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. All dollars raised go to help Methodist Jennie Edmundson cancer patients.

Each year, four amazing individuals who have fought their own battles against cancer are honored with the Spirit of Courage Award. This year's recipients — Teresa Benson, Karen Hansen, Amber Williams and Jenyi Knudsen-Bergsten, Lifetime Achievement Award  — will share their stories of courage.

And, once again, celebrity friends from Hollywood, sports and music — including local area celebrities — will participate, donating their time to this worthy cause.

There are many ways to participate: a golf scramble, gala event with silent and live auctions, poker tournament and sponsorships.

No Limit Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament: Sunday, August 7

Rick Springfield with the Fixx and the Romantics: Saturday, August 13

• $1 from each ticket sold to the August 13 concert at Stir Cove will benefit the 2016 Spirit of Courage event!
