Jennifer Vogler Is September DAISY Award Winner
Published: Sept. 20, 2016Jennifer Vogler, BSN, CEN from the Emergency Department at Methodist Hospital, was honored at a recognition ceremony on Tuesday, September 20, as the September DAISY Award winner for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women's Hospital.
Jennifer was nominated for the honor by a patient who came to the Methodist Hospital Emergency Department feeling "lousy, uncomfortable and on edge" with multiple symptoms and the fear he was having complications from a recent surgery. He described Jennifer, the nurse who greeted him, as "born professional and empathetic."
The patient wrote, "Throughout my stay in the ER, she kept me fully informed on what she was doing and what other procedures I would be undergoing: X-ray, lab work, etc. I know she was dealing with other patients and issues, but what stood out to me was her truly caring attitude, attention to detail and the way she checked in with me to see how she could make me more comfortable. Of course the medical care by the entire team was excellent, but what helped me most was her calming attitude and what seemed to be a real concern on her part that she was really interested in helping me get better. This nurse is an asset to your team and, for me, she is the embodiment of a nurse who helps provide excellent care with a human touch."
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Nurses can be nominated by anyone, including patients, family members, physicians, supervisors or their peers.
