Who can nominate a nurse?

Any Methodist employee.

Which nurses are eligible for the Nurse Excellence Award program?

Nurses employed at Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women’s Hospital, Methodist Jennie Edmondson Hospital or MHS hospital-based clinics and who are in good standing with Methodist Health System and have no corrective action issues can be nominated to receive this recognition. 

What qualities must nominees exemplify?

Nurse Excellence Awards are given annually to registered nurses for their participation in the advancement and practice of nursing. Nominees must exemplify day-to-day demonstration of the Core Values of our organization:  

• Patient Focus

• Honor and Respect

• Excellence and Teamwork

• Service to Community

What are the nomination categories?

The highest scoring nominations will receive the Nurse Excellence Award. You many nominate one nurse in each category:

• Nurse Excellence Award
  Given annually to registered nurses for their participation in the advancement and practice of nursing.

• Nurse Excellence Leadership Award
  Given annually to a Service Leader for participation in the support and advancement of nursing practice.

• Advanced Practice Nursing Leadership Award
  Given annually to a Clinical Nurse Educator or APRN (CNS, NP, Nurse Midwife, Nurse Anesthetist) for participation in the support and advancement of nursing practice.

Timeline?

Nominations are due to the nominee’s supervisor by February 24. Nominations approved by the nominee’s supervisor are due to Jennifer Promes by February 24. The Professional Development Council will vote on the nominations during the February 28 meeting.
