Nebraska Methodist College Launches Public Health Policy Doctoral Program
Published: Jan. 5, 2017Nebraska Methodist College (NMC), an affiliate of Methodist Health System, is launching a new doctorate program: an online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Public Health Policy that prepares advanced nurses to shape future healthcare reforms. The application process is now open, and classes begin August 2017.
Advanced nurses are needed more than ever to start conversations in their local communities to improve public health programs, develop new programs and coordinate care. Nurses in the DNP - Public Health Policy program are experts in evidence-based practice — serving as a teachers, mentors, consultants and researchers. They will influence management and systems improvement and be prepared with the knowledge and real-world experience necessary to affect public health policy locally, regionally and nationally.
The DNP - Public Health Policy program requires nurses to complete a minimum of 50 credit hours and 960 clinical practice hours. Credit hours can be obtained via synchronous and asynchronous online learning including one on-campus intensive weekend. Clinical practice requirements are completed in a preceptor experience.
A full-time student can graduate in 24 months; a part-time student can finish in three to four years.
