Christine Broghammer Is March DAISY Award Winner

Christine Broghammer, BSN, RN, C-EFM from Methodist Women’s Hospital Perinatal Center, was honored at a recognition ceremony on March 3 as the March DAISY for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital.

Christine was nominated for the honor by a patient who was facing a difficult pregnancy. The patient wrote, “She could sense how scared I was. Christine was with me through all my appointments, talked to me almost daily, and when I was in the hospital she came and saw I was doing ok, (most times off the clock). She was there holding my hand every step of the way. Most times were very emotional because we didn’t think my son would make it.”

The patient described Christine as a “rare one to find” when it comes to nurses and noted how Christine helped her with so much stress and worry.  “All I needed to do was stay healthy and she did the rest!” said the patient.

“When I had all my surgeries, she waited to hear from me after everyone and if she didn’t, she was calling to make sure I was ok,” the patient wrote. “She made all my appointments and coordinated them with all the multiple doctors because she knew I drove two and half hours to get to the office”

The patient was particularly thankful to Christine during a very uncertain time of her pregnancy due to complications.

“I truly can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award. She is the most incredible nurse and person I’ve met and without her, I wouldn’t have my son,” the patient wrote. “I can’t ever thank her enough for all the time she put into my case.”

The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Nurses can be nominated by anyone, including patients, family members, physicians, supervisors or their peers.
