Sara Pika - Methodist Women's Hospital Employee of the Quarter

Sara Pika, BSN, RN, a Nurse Coordinator in the GYN/OB unit, is the Methodist Women’s Hospital Employee of the Quarter for 4th Quarter 2017. She was honored at a recognition ceremony on September 8.

Sara was nominated for the honor by a member of the leadership team who is not a direct supervisor, but who has observed Sara to be "consistently positive, patient and compassionate leader to her peers and to our patients."

The nominator praised Sara's initiative and work ethic, explaining, "Sara is always ready to accept the daily challenges of meeting the floor's needs with a smile while exceeding the expectations of patients and their families. Her attitude and dedication to teamwork is contagious. She makes a positive inpact on those around her and has been a constant example of leadership, especially during times of change. She is a great example of The Meaning of Care."

Additional kudos in support of the award nomination came from Sara's supervisor, who wrote that Sara brings her compassion, clinical experience, personal experience with adversity and patient-first focus to her role: "Sara's positive attitude and desire to meet the needs of our patients sets her apart from her peers.  As a supervisor, I consider myself blessed to have such a genuinely compassionate person leading our nursing staff."

The Methodist Women's Hospital Employee of the Quarter award program began in the first quarter of 2013. Award nominations may be submitted by physicians, supervisors, coworkers and staff. Judging is based on how candidates embody the mission and core values of Methodist Women’s Hospital: patient focus, integrity, excellence, learning, compassion, teamwork and respect.

All employees and staff at MWH are eligible to receive the Employee of the Quarter award. Employee of the Quarter award winners are automatically considered for the Caring Kind Employee of the Year award, as are Methodist Hospital's Employees of the Month.

To nominate a fellow employee for the Employee of the Quarter award, submit a completed application form to Administration. Each nomination is kept on file for review for two quarters.
