The Good Catch Award is designed to recognize staff members committed to patient safety.

This recognition is presented monthly and goes to the department in which the good catch occurred. Nominations for the award are taken from reported variances where a near miss is caught. Those variances are flagged for consideration of this award. A near miss is an incident or event that has occurred and had the potential to cause harm but was caught before it reached the patient.

Good Catch Award Recipient

Tiffany Ewasiuk, Good Catch Award

Tiffany Ewasiuk
Case manager, Behavioral Health Inpatient
Methodist Fremont Health

"Tiffany followed up (via phone) with a patient, and in their discussion, Tiffany recognized that this patient was in distress. Tiffany did not second-guess her next actions. She stayed on the phone with the patient and talked through what the patient was going through and feeling. Tiffany made the decision that for the safety of the patient, a well check was needed. Law enforcement were notified, and, thankfully, the patient was later seen at Methodist Fremont Health’s ED and then admitted for inpatient care."

Congratulations, Tiffany! Thank you for your commitment to keeping our patients and staff safe.
