SHINE Award Winner
Kayla Best
Kayla Best, a nursing assistant in the Emergency Department at Methodist Fremont Health, has been honored with the Shine Award. Her nomination followed a situation where she assisted a patient at risk for falling.
"My patient got out of bed, which activated the bed alarm. Kayla just so happened to be walking down the hallway when the alarm went off. She sprang in to action! As I was headed in the direction of this room, I heard Kayla say, 'Hey there! Where ya going?' I entered to find Kayla assisting my patient to the bathroom. She even offered to continue to assist my patient. She saved my patient from what I would consider as an almost guaranteed fall. Thank you, Kayla! Your quick actions, willingness to help and willingness to stay and continue to help speaks volumes not only about you as a person but also you as a tech! Methodist Fremont Health is lucky to have you."
Congratulations, Kayla, on receiving the SHINE Award. We thank you for all your hard work to show patients and their families The Meaning of Care.
