Methodist Women's Hospital nurse Katie Kueny honored with The DAISY Award

Congratulations to Katie Kueny, BSN, RN, C-EFM, a registered nurse on the Methodist Women’s Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit, for being honored with The DAISY Award. She was nominated by patient and fellow Methodist employee Becky Hannah, APRN, whose infant daughter died after premature birth. Included in the nomination:

“We were so lucky to have Katie as our day nurse on the day our daughter was born. She not only provided support to myself, my husband and our sweet girl, but she provided laughter when we thought we'd never smile again. She provided a sense of peace when we felt as though we were in the middle of a raging storm. She provided hope that we would be OK when we couldn't see beyond our own grief. Katie was there all day with us as we got to hold and spend time with our daughter – time we will always cherish and be grateful for. She helped us be able to remember the time we had with her by capturing pictures we would not have otherwise had. There are truly no words to adequately describe our appreciation for Katie, the work that she does and the compassion that she showed us. She is an amazing nurse who was able to make the unimaginable and unbearable, survivable. Although I hope no other family ever has to endure the hardship of losing a baby, if they do, I hope they have a Katie. There is no way we would have made it out the other side without her. Being a provider at Methodist, I am very cognizant of what it means to provide exceptional care. … I know exactly what type of provider I want to be because Katie has shown me that.”
