Experience the benefits of local Farmers Markets this summer
Published: June 17, 2024Methodist held farmers markets at several affiliate locations during National Nutrition Month in March, providing employees with opportunities to buy produce from Methodist’s vendors at cost, win fun raffle prizes and get a taste of locally grown produce.
Eating locally sourced foods has a myriad of benefits, including supporting the local economy, getting fresher produce than you would if it were transported and reducing emissions by cutting the amount of miles your food travels. Visiting a local farmers market can also challenge you to try new produce and test new recipes.
As we enter the summer months, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with local agriculture and find produce, bakery items, crafts, plants and more. Local farmers markets include:
- Old Market, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Aksarben Village, Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Farmers Market Council Bluffs, Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:40 p.m.
- Gifford Park Neighborhood Market, Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m.
- Bellevue Farmers Market, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon
- Gretna Farmers Market, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon
- Florence Mill Farmers Market, Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Fremont Farmers Market, Thursdays
- Papillion Farmers Market, Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m.
Consider taking your friends and family to a farmers market this spring and leaning into the benefits of local eating!
