Donations for Back to School Backpack Program accepted through Aug. 4
Published: July 1, 2024Methodist Health System is again partnering with KETV and the Omaha Salvation Army for the Back to School Backpack Program. The annual campaign provides school supplies to families in Omaha, Council Bluffs and Fremont, helping children begin the school year with the tools they need to be successful.
What to donate
While all donations will be accepted, the items most needed include:
- Backpacks
- Rulers
- Spiral notebooks
- Erasers
- Glue
- Crayons
- Colored pencils
- Theme paper
- Two-pocket folders
- Pens
- Pencils
- Reusable water bottles
- Hand sanitizer
- Tissues
Where to donate
School supplies can be dropped off through Aug. 4 at participating Methodist Health System, Metro Credit Union, Cubby's and Salvation Army locations.
Public drop-off sites
Members of the public can drop off school supplies through Aug. 4 at Methodist Urgent Care locations from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 6 p.m. on weekends. The locations are:
- Aksarben Village. 6700 Mercy Road, Suite 109, Omaha
- Downtown Omaha. 312 S. 15th St.
- Elkhorn. 20021 Manderson St., Omaha
- Fremont. 1240 E. 23rd St.
- Gretna. 11946 Standing Stone Drive
- Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza. 808 E. Pierce St., Council Bluffs
- Millard. 5908 S. 142nd St., Omaha
- Papillion. 101 E. Centennial Road
Employee drop-off sites
Methodist employees can also drop off school supplies at select Methodist locations. Look for blue barrels at the following locations:
- 825 Building – at the main building entrances
- Methodist Fremont Health – near the pharmacy area by the elevators
- Methodist Hospital – near the employee parking garage entrance
- Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital – outside the dietitians' office in the cafeteria hallway on the lower level
- Methodist Women's Hospital – in the cafe near the employee entrance
