How does your work uniquely contribute to The Meaning of Care?
Becoming a nurse has been the best thing because you can take care of a person holistically. You get to see a patient grow and enjoy their company.
What’s something about your role that surprised you?
Something surprising is how I’m learning about patients each day. We all come from different walks of life, and as I’m learning about a patient, I might learn something new about myself.
What do you enjoy most about your team?
I love my colleagues’ kindness and willingness to help. We’ve shared a lot of experiences that we look back on and laugh about.
Any memorable moments that stick out?
There have been so many. Among them was taking care of a person who had major surgery on their legs. But if you got the chance to know them, you’d find out they were an amazing photographer.
Why did you come to Methodist, and why have you stayed?
My mom and dad used to work here. I’ve enjoyed cultivating friendships with my patients, boss and coworkers.
What does The Meaning of Care mean to you?
The Meaning of Care makes me think of a quote from Maya Angelou: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
What’s the best thing about your role at Methodist?
Getting the chance to work with interdisciplinary teams.
What do you enjoy outside of your time at Methodist?
Taking care of my kids, calling family and loves ones, and doing homework. I’m almost done with my BSN.
