Important information about upcoming changes for H drive users

Information Technology

On Aug. 1, the Information Technology (IT) team will begin a project to migrate H drive files to Microsoft OneDrive and end H drive availability.

This project will impact all employees who use the H drive. If you don’t use the H drive today, this change will not impact you.

A new Y drive that functions similarly will be available to employees upon request.

Why the change?

In 2019, Methodist Health System began using Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft OneDrive. Since that time, the IT team has found that OneDrive is an excellent tool that allows users to share files internally and externally, allows access to files from mobile devices, and protects files from ransomware.

This new project will allow employees to enjoy the benefits of OneDrive while reducing the risk of IT security issues.

What's next?

If you're an H drive user, IT will notify you via email when your files will be copied to OneDrive. In the meantime, this is a great opportunity to get caught up on how to effectively use OneDrive. Please see this FAQ and training link to learn more about OneDrive.

Additionally, we’re aware that some employees currently use the H drive to move files to and from Cerner. If this applies to you, click here to submit a request to obtain a new Y drive, which will function similarly to the H drive and allow you to continue to move files in and out of Cerner. The Y drive will automatically remove all files at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for security reasons and is not intended for long-term file storage.

If you have questions, please contact the IT Operations Center at (402) 354-2280.

Managers, please share this information with employees who use the H drive but may not frequently check their email.
