Proofpoint secure sharing to be retired; OneDrive alternative available to select users
Published: Aug. 29, 2024On Sept. 30, Proofpoint is retiring its Secure Share platform – a tool that allows Methodist employees to safely share files with external entities.
Afterward, select users at Methodist will be able to share files externally via OneDrive as an alternative to Proofpoint’s Secure Share. All management-level employees and above, as well as college faculty, will have access to share OneDrive files or folders to external parties.
Other employees must be granted permission to use OneDrive for external file sharing. Exceptions for other employees require manager approval and must be filed individually for each employee – no group requests will be accepted. To make a request, fill out an IT Security Exception Request in the IT self service portal and choose “Minor: OneDrive External Sharing Request” from the “Exception Type” dropdown menu.

All affected users are asked to remove shared files from Proofpoint Secure Share and begin using OneDrive no later than Sept. 6. After the Secure Share platform is retired, files stored there will be unavailable.
