SHINE Award Winner
Tanya Ticas, a nurse assistant in the Rehabilitation Unit at Methodist Hospital, has been honored with the SHINE Award.
She was nominated by a patient's wife, who wrote:
“My sweetheart had the misfortune of being victim to a major stroke in January. … For the most part, he was extremely well taken care of at Methodist. I wanted to bring your attention to one of his nursing assistants in particular. Tanya Ticas was a very valuable part of his team. She cared for him as though he was a beloved member of her own family. She was firm with him and professional but always so sweet. Every day she brought encouragement and positivity into the room. She was there quickly whenever we needed help and would always explain anything new that was happening so that we always understood and felt comfortable. She made us feel like we were her favorite patients on the floor, although I'm certain that everyone in her care feels that way. … She truly is a gift to Methodist and all the patients whom she cares for.”
Congratulations, Tanya, on receiving the SHINE Award. We thank you for all your hard work to show patients and their families The Meaning of Care.
