Methodist's 125th Anniversary: Let the Celebration Begin!

On May 28, 1891, a 28-bed hospital opened at 20th and Harney to serve the people of Omaha regardless of religion, race, gender or ability to pay. 

Those who founded the Methodist Episcopal Hospital and Deaconess Home 125 years ago could not have imagined our current Methodist Hospital and Methodist Health System with 6,000 employees living The Meaning of Care. Ours is a long and proud tradition of compassionate care, medical excellence, national recognition, leadership, growth, technology and the innovation essential to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

I want to thank the members of the Methodist Health System family for your outstanding care and service to patients, families, clients and one another. We have much to celebrate as we prepare for the next 125 years.

Now it is my great pleasure to announce highlights of Methodist’s anniversary celebration:

• Methodist Memories on Employee Connections
  Each Monday, a historical tidbit and archival photo posts to “Methodist Memories,” a series that debuted in January. Find “Methodist Memories” on Employee Connections, under Sort By Category: 125th Anniversary.

• New Advertising Campaign Debuts in April
  This will be the most fully integrated ad campaign for consumer and employee audiences in our history, with a message going beyond the caring that is part of the Methodist DNA.

• The Meaning of Care Magazine: 125th Anniversary Issue
  The Spring 2016 issue of the magazine, due out in mid-April, is a special anniversary edition highlighting the origin and impact of Methodist’s culture of caring and medical excellence.

• Special Events
  Celebrations are being planned, both in the workplace and out in the community. SAVE THE DATE for a special event for MHS employees and their families: SUNDAY, MAY 29. Details and more events to come.

• Surprises
  Enjoy a small gift, anniversary-themed cafeteria specials and other surprises.
